I wanted to share a set of photos I’ve been holding on to for a couple months now. They make me happy on so many levels.
Late last year, I was contacted by Alexandra. With her 10th wedding anniversary coming up, she was interested in doing a portrait session for her and her husband, Dan. She explained that, having married fairly young in their early twenties, they had not made photography a priority at their wedding and, in hindsight, she wished she had some great photos of her and Dan to share with their daughter.
I thought this was such a lovely idea especially when she told me that she wanted to wear her wedding dress! She was worried that I’d think it was a funny idea but I was instantly so excited, millions of photo ideas zipping through my mind. I also thought it was a brilliant way of getting some more use out of her dress.
After some emails back and forth to discuss location ideas, we decided to do the shoot at Eaton Canyon in Pasadena that has the most magical light late in the day. We were also able to schedule our session for a weekday so there were hardly any other people around. (A definite bonus!)
Dan and Alexandra looked so great and we instantly hit it off. (There’s no way I could fit into my wedding dress after 10 years.) Normally when I’m shooting a couple in wedding attire, I have about 30 minutes between their wedding ceremony and reception. So, it was really fun to be able to spend so much time concentrating on getting beautiful shots of this super awesome couple… I was like a kid in a candy store!
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone and, Alex and Dan, happy anniversary!!
