It used to be that when I went traveling or was hanging out with family and friends for a special occasion, my camera was attached to the hip.  But more and more, I find that when I’m not working (and even sometimes when I am), my go-to camera is my iPhone.  I suppose I’ve become a creature of convenience but it also takes really great photos, especially with a little app called Instagram that I am unabashedly addicted to.

I found myself looking through my snaps on my phone the other day and being slightly shocked at how much I managed to cram in to just one month.  So, I thought it would be fun to share just some of my favorites each month.  This is a blog after all!  Here’s September’s installment.

joy + matt married! | condor’s nest ranch

I thought this post was going to be the usual size but as I was going through my photos today, there were so many that I was loving and that I thought told the story of Joy and Matt’s beautiful wedding.  Just a couple weeks ago now, their wedding was held at The Condor’s Nest Ranch in Pala, CA (near Temecula).  It was a great venue with an abundance of cool spots for photos.

When Matt and Joy hired me earlier this year, I was so excited.  I have known Matt since we were kids and Joy has such a great sense of style that I knew it was going to be both meaningful and gorgeous to photograph.   And, it really was.  These are two amazing people and I’m so honored to share in their big day.

Matt and Joy – Here’s a little sneak peek for you.  There’s a whole lot more to come!

…And, it was a tough choice but I think this last one may be my favorite of the day.

It’s always pretty special to photograph friends that I’ve known since childhood especially when they’ve recently become parents.  So, I was excited when Terra and Eric contacted me about doing a photo session with their adorable baby Dexter.  There’s just something so sweet about seeing these two, who I remember as kids, with their own little guy who is the perfect combination of them both.

We did our photo session at their home up in the Stevenson Ranch area of Santa Clarita.  While we spent a bunch of time just catching up, we did also get some great shots of them hanging out in their backyard.

There’s just something so magical about my favorite Pasadena garden.  Every time I shoot there, without fail, the light is so amazing.  I knew this was the perfect location when Darlene described what she was looking for in her maternity photos–an outdoor, natural setting that suited her and Joshua’s laid-back personalities and where we could get relaxed, candid photos.  And as usual, it didn’t disappoint.  We spent about an hour wandering around as the sun was getting low in the late afternoon.  I think that the setting, the light and Joshua and Darlene’s adorable sweetness toward one another resulted in some pretty beautiful images that captured that laid-back quality we were going for.  Enjoy!
