Nestled in the foothills of the Angeles Crest National Forest, Descanso Gardens is an urban oasis that almost makes you forget that you are in Los Angeles. It was also the beautiful backdrop for Matt and Hilary’s wedding on May 30th. Occasionally, as a photographer, I shoot at a location that almost does the work for me. Such was the case with Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge, California.
As a child, I visited these gardens countless times with my school, which was just up the road. Perhaps it was my adolescence or it may have just been the frequency in which I went there, but at some point I started to take the garden and all of it’s gazebos, trellises, winding pathways and pleasantly perfumey flowers for granted. So it was no surprise that coming here 15 years later made quite an impression.
